Career Readiness Certificate
What is the NC Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) Initiative
The NC CRC is a Joblink initiative that is being administered through the community college system. A North Carolina Career Readiness Certificate allows certificate holders to show prospective employers that they posses basic employability skills. Even if they have a high school diploma/GED or a post-secondary degree, the CRC verifies they can handle the kind of tasks – finding information, reading instructions and directions, even working with figures – that are common in today's workplace.
Individuals can earn three levels of Career Readiness Certificates based on their test performance in Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information.
- Bronze level signifies that a recipient possess skills for approximately 30% of the jobs profiled by WorkKeys;
- Silver level signifies that a recipient possess skills for approximately 65% of jobs profiled by WorkKeys;
- Gold level signifies that a recipient possess skills for approximately 85% of jobs profiled by WorkKeys in the three areas.
How to Earn Certification
The certificate is based on established WorkKeys® assessments. WorkKeys is a comprehensive skills assessment tool recognized by thousands of companies and state and federal agencies in the U.S. Central Piedmont Community College uses Worldwide Interactive Network (WIN) software to help students prepare for the assessments. The students must attend one class in person in order to receive sign on credentials, then they may study via internet or attend class for more personal attention.
- Individuals who do not initially receive the certificate can enroll in a refresher course at Central Piedmont Community College.
- Call our customer service department at 704-330-4223 to register for CRC7000
- The cost for the CRC is $30.00 plus CPCC fees. The certificate is included within the cost, if applicable.
Benefits of the CRC
- Employers can use the certificate levels as one of their selection tools when hiring new employees, such as: Campbell Soup and Energizer.
- Job seekers will show the potential employer the abilities of a potential applicant in core employability skills.
