Real Estate Program

Over a third of the worlds wealth is connected to real estate and real estate brokers have a direct effect on the development of our society. The real estate industry offers a variety of career opportunities.Helping people buy and sell homes, office buildings, industrial properties, property management,land development, and urban planning are just some of the many facets of working in this vibrant industry.

  


 

 

 

  Pre-licensing

(REX7500) Real Estate Broker

Persons interested in becoming a licensed real estate broker in the state of North Carolina must satisfy the requirements of the North Carolina Real Estate Commission, successfully completing and passing a 75-hour broker pre-licensing course.

This course is content intensive; students should purchase the textbook prior to class and begin reading chapters 1 & 2 for the first day of class.

 There is a state mandatory attendance requirement of 80%. In addition, Satisfactory completion of the course entitles you to sit for the State exam will entitle you to receive a “provisional broker’s license”.


 

 

  Post-licensing
Real Estate Broker

After receiving the “provisional broker” real estate license, there are 3 mandatory classes that each provisional broker must attend within 3 years of initial licensure. The 3 classes are:
·         REX7107      Broker Relationships and Responsibilities
·         REX7108      Contracts and Closings
·         REX7109       Selected Topics
Examination at the conclusion of each of the 3 courses, one textbook is used for all 3 classes –“North Carolina Real Estate Manual”. Which can be purchased at the CPCC bookstore.

 

There is a state mandatory attendance requirement of 80%.   


 

 

Continuing Education

Once licensed, Real Estate professionals must take 8 hours of continuing education, each license year. This includes the NCREC Mandatory update (4 hours),an approved elective (4 hours) or the Broker in Charge Annual Review (BICAR) This course is only available to designated Broker's in Charge.

Many of our classes are approved as Continuing Ed. for licensees with the NC Real Estate Commission, the Commissioner of Banks & SC Department of Consumer Affairs. Approved Electives:

 

1.  Mandatory Updates
This course fulfills the required CE credit hours which must be obtained by completing the the RE Update prescribed by the NCREC. The subject matter of this course is changed by the Commission each year.

2.  Electives:

3.  BICAR:
This course is only available to designated Broker's in Charge and can be taken in lieu of an elective.
