Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
BUS 7435
From a student after completing the Six Sigma Black Belt class with Gary Klipp:
"I am sending you this short note to thank you for an absolute winner class. I certainly enjoyed your teaching style, and I thoroughly enjoyed your positive and upbeat manner. You always seemed happy to see us. It is refreshing to attend a class where you do not do the clock-watch-thing, but enjoy each moment. A three hour class after a full day of work is usually not fun; however you always kept me interested. You have an exceptional teaching talent, and everything you said resonates with me. I will carry this knowledge always. Keep doing what you are doing, as it does make a difference."
After successful completion of this 100-hour course, participants should be better prepared to provide an organization with the leadership and knowledge expertise of a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. The course content is built around the American Society for Quality (ASQ) body of knowledge. Six Sigma Black Belts lead project cross-functional project teams, to carry out identified improvement projects. As such, Black Belts need to be able to implement all of the appropriate tools of Six Sigma and provide statistical expertise for project teams. They work with, lead and mentor cross-functional teams to define and measure problems, analyze the root causes, implement improvements, and establish control at new levels. This course blends classroom instruction (40 hours) with required on-line assignments (60 hours).
For those students who wish to also achieve ASQ certification, this course will prepare you for that exam but the ASQ exam is not a requirement of this course. This course does not guarantee that a participant will pass the ASQ exam. The exam is not administered through CPCC. The fees associated with test eligibility and test-taking are handled separately by the participant through ASQ. Currently, the ASQ exam is a 4-hour exam given twice a year locally at a cost of $285 for non-members. To be eligible for the exam, two signed affidavits attesting to the completion of two Six Sigma projects must be submitted along with the fee. For more information on the exam, see www.asq.org
After successfully completing this intensive blended course, individuals will receive a CPCC certificate and be awarded 10.0 CEUs (continuing education units).
This course typically meets once per week for three (3) hours at one of our convenient multi-campus locations. The cost of this 100-hour course is $2995 and includes materials. There is an additional $4 CAPS fee per course (for all CCE courses).
