Aging Studies Scholarship

The Cliff McCall Memorial Scholarship

Students studying gerontology and the aging population are encouraged to apply for the Cliff McCall Memorial Scholarship, given in memory of Cliff McCall, a former CPCC student dedicated to the field of aging studies.  To apply, students must be enrolled in one of the following CPCC courses and must submit a short essay with the application.  Awards will be chosen each semester and can be used for tuition and books.  For more information, please refer to the link below.  Applications for Fall 09 scholarships will be accepted through August 5th, 2009. 

Applications for Spring 2010 scholarships will be accepted through November 20, 2009.

 

Candidates are judged on a scale of one to ten based on the following criteria:
1.)     Mecklenberg residents earn one point
2.)    Charlotte area residents earn one point
3.)    Displaced or unemployed workers earn two points
4.)    Quality of essay graded on a scale of one to 5 points
5.)    Previous or current student in good standing earn one point.
Scholarships are awarded based on funding availability. Scholarship monies will be used for tuition. Deadlines for applications will be posted on the website and will be awarded prior to registration of classes.  The number and amount of scholarships may vary each semester. Students awarded a scholarship for one semester should wait at least one semester to again apply.
