Public Safety

The Public Safety Division educates the professionals who are entrusted with the safety and security of our community. This includes not just police, fire and medic, but also those employed in the courts, probation, corrections and emergency management.

We provide college level curriculum classes for students interested in earning their bachelor's degrees, but also offer certificate and diploma programs, as well as in-service training for public safety professionals.  These programs range from Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET), which provides the training necessary for an individual to become law enforcement officer in North Carolina, to our American Academy of Applied Forensics (AAAF), which provides state of the art training in forensics for law enforcement.
